"Seaweed and the Cure for Mildew" Cover
"Seaweed and the Cure for Mildew" is finally done and the bulk load of copies should be arriving around July 10th! The book measures in at a whopping 12 x 15 inches!!! It's hard cover, full-color, 64 pages- (of which 24 are development, rough sketches, and notes on the making of the book). The re-launch of my web-site: saltysugar.com will take place in the next few weeks where you'll be able to preview the book and order it through Paypal. I'll let you all know when it's up and running but for now here's the cover!
Also for those attending the San Diego Comic Con, Stuart NG will be carrying a limited number of the books. I'm also in talks with him to do a book signing and I'll let you know more about that as the details are finalized.

Wow, this looks like great fun. Talk about appeal. Sold!
Can't wait to get my hands on this, Ben. Been anticipating it for a while. Best of luck with the release!
Can't wait! Whatever possessed you to create a story around these two characters, Ben? A pelican and a (tuna) fish? Did you grow up around the docks? It's such an interesting duo that there's gotta be a great story behind it's conception?
Ben,
First Charlatan's Ball comes out, and now Seaweed will be making it's eventual debut!
Wish I could attend San Diego this year, but I'll be sure to order it as soon as I get a chance to!
Looking forward to the new site as well!

yeah! i'm looking forward to it...
Ben!!!! I can't wait to buy me a copy!! Hope everything is going good on Dragons.
Looks amazing! Wow, it is really cool to see all the hard work you've done and now the final is here. Congratulations! And what a cool concept too! Nobody likes mildew!! I noticed on the cover gradient there is some banding happening. I'm not sure if that is the jpeg or not. A friend of mine told me a trick to fix that, if you add a little noise in photoshop, say 2 percent, that should take care of it. Awesome work!!
I'm there Ben. Sign me up. Will you be doing drawings on the inside cover as well?
Ciao,
joe
Thanks guys!
Eric- The fish's name is Poisson. He's actually a sardine, (because my Great Grandfather was a Sardine Fisherman off the coast of Sicily.)
As for why Seaweed is a pelican; I had been laid off from my job at Disney TV back in 1999 or so, and was living in Long Beach, CA where California Brown Pelicans are everywhere. A pelican in flight is so inspirational to me that I felt compelled to write a story about one.
Shawn - Thanks for the "banding" tip. The final print turned out gorgeous and the gradients are all silky smooth so really it's just a problem on computer monitors. But I may give that a shot next time!
Josh - Everything is going great on "Dragons"!
Joe - Absolutely I'll sign and do a drawing in the book. That goes for any sold over my website as well as at the Con.
Awesome news!
Can't wait to pick up a copy, and ESPECIALLY if you're willing to sign and do a little drawing in it!
If you do a signing at Stuart Ng will the book still be the reg. price? I know lots of times they up the cost of everything they sell.
YES!!! Fantastic, dood. I've been waiting for this for a couple of years now! I've added this to my "must have" con list. I'll see you in SD if not before.
I'll buy one, that's for sure.
I have been looking forward to this for a long time! Hopefully I will be able to get my book signed at comic con!
Wow, the cover turned out great!! I still remember when you showed us the first version of it :) I'm ready to get my copy, woohoo!

Inspirational Blog you have here sir, do you think this book will be at Meltdown in Hollywood?... in the future?
I know this book is going to be great Ben, you seem to have put your everything into it. I love the fact you are including a full 24 pages of extra drawings with it. I will never be happier to hand over money for something.
clarke- I don't think Stuart is planning on raising the price for the Con but I don't know that for sure. You can always order it through my website and a sketch will be included.
Tapan- I will be at the Con. At least one day maybe two. I'll let you all know as soon as the details are finalized with Stuart Ng.
Noel- I'm going to bring the book to Meltdown for sure. Whether Gaston carries it or not remains to be seen. You can always order it directly through my website and a signature and sketch will be included.
Todd- Thanks SO much! That's very kind!
I can't wait till all of you get to read the book and meet the characters finally!
I would like to take this comic in Spanish. Do you think it would be possible?
Freakin awesome dude! Can't wait to get my hands on it!!!
Mike-If by "take this comic in Spanish." you mean will I send it to Spain? The answer is yes. That goes for any other country in the world as well. If you meant will it be translated into Spanish, I'm afraid not yet.
