General Rant
Here's a character from my comic who got cut early on. I did this back in 2000 and was obviously heavily influenced by Andre Franquin, (my favorite artist,) when looking at the generals hat and coat. The original draft of the script was too long and complex so when I reworked it I cut a lot of characters and this poor guy was one of them.

Too bad, this guy looks hilarious. Very cool design, your inks are impeccable.
This is a great looking character. I wasn't sure if I new Andre Franquin, so I looked him up. Not so familiar with his work, so thanks for the nudge. I definitely sensed kind of a "euro" feel about this character from the start, though. The shapes and line quality make me think of the Asterix comics as well. I really love the wrinkle lines in his sleeve, among others.
You'll have to save him and the others for the inevitable sequel...
Great stuff man! I love it all!
A shame he didn't make it, he's awesome! Must have been hard to let him go, hope he's ok?!
Hans
